We are upgrading our Christchurch FortiGate firewall cluster on 26/8/26 between 9pm – 12am from FortiOS version 7.4.11 to 7.4.12

There will be one or more brief switching breaks during this time, which should go largely unnoticed but might cause VPNs and routing adjacencies to disconnect/reconnect. Please let us know if you need more information.

Degraded Christchurch VDOM Firewall
Resolved - This incident has been resolved.

Investigating - We are currently experiencing administrative GUI issues with the Christchurch FortiGate MCS firewall cluster. Existing network traffic and current firewall rules are unaffected. However, administrators will be unable to create or modify rules at this time.

To resolve this, we are planning a firewall cluster failover today (4/8/26) at 5:30 PM. A brief momentary interruption to network connections may occur during the transition.

Next update: 6:00 PM or following completion.

Resolved - This incident has been resolved.

Update - The degraded cluster primary that was under investigation failed. This caused a HA failover to the secondary cluster member at 1:06pm.
Failover would cause all dynamic routing sessions (OSPF and BGP) to reset and all IPSEC tunnels would need to re-establish.
Connectivity recovered. Please contact service desk if yo uare still having issues

Scheduled - Please be advised of planned maintenance work on the evening of Sunday the 2nd of August between 7:00pm and 10:00pm. This is Emergency security patching due to announced VCE and will result in the MCS portal being unable to manage workloads during this period. There will be no impact to workloads just an inability to manage them during the maintenance.
